We received the following unsolicited e-mail from a voter who recently found a mailing from the pro-casino campaign in his mailbox. It was also sent to the Yes on Question 2 PAC. Hello, I just found your Putting Maine to Work brochure in my mailbox. Great, I thought! Job opportunities for Maine people are really needed! However, after reading it over and over I finally realized the brochure was really just asking me to vote Yes for Question 2 for the casinos in Biddeford and Washington county. Promoting the casino vote as a putting Maine to work and jobs opportunity is VERY deceiving and misleading. The idea of gambling facilities in Maine is already distasteful. So, when the idea is then presented in a deceiving way, I find it even more distasteful. When someone presents something to me in a deceiving/misleading way I am instantly against it…and so will most other Mainers. We respect honesty and someone who is straight forward with us. You do not know how much or if any of these gambling facilities will add jobs for Mainers. Casinos make money for casinos. The Casino job list in Oxford has shown early on that most good jobs do not go to Maine people but outsiders. Calling your Yes on Question 2 as a win-win for Maine’s families is disgraceful. Maine needs more good decent jobs that can give someone a good decent living not more indecent gambling facilities that will take a person’s money away from them. Your brochure dishonesty encourages me to vote NO for question 2. Be honest! Cliff Andrews
